In October 1998 a meeting was held to decide whether we should demolish our old church hall and build a church extension to form a new Parish Hall...

The old Hall was completely out of date and built from pre-fab pebble-dashed panels. It was far too small and totally inadequate for our growing congregation and community. The toilets consisted of a leaky bucket and the kitchen was just a microwave balanced on a pile of old crates. There was no 'disabled access' at all and half of the people who used it in Winter went home with frost bite...

But after a lot of hard work and input (over 7 years) the NEW Parish Hall was officially opened by Fr. Richard and Mrs Muriel Hoyal and is now used on a regular and weekly basis. It took a lot of fund raising and events such as Concerts, Wine Tastings, Celebrity Auctions, 'talks', Quizzes, Candlelight Dinners and various Celebrations to get there... but we did it! And it was all thanks to our local community and members whom we treasure and love.

The toilets and flower arrangers’ room are at the same level as the church. Alongside the stairs to the upper level is a lift. At the upper level there is firstly a Meeting Room which seats 20/25 people. The Main Hall, measuring 135 square metres, has a wooden floor and lovely views from the windows. It can be divided by a partition into two rooms of approximately equal size. There is a fully fitted kitchen and separate bar, both having hatches opening onto the Main Hall.

St. Margaret's Playtime for toddlers on Friday mornings attracts ever greater numbers. Regular church meetings are held in the Meeting Room and the Main Hall hosts regular rehearsals for Cantores Olicanae and Ilkley Rock Choir, film club, children's drama classes, fitness classes, the U3A, summer schools as well as our own monthly Lunch Club.
