The decision to hold an Ilkley “Half Marathon” on Sunday, July 14th has presented St Margaret’s with a very difficult problem on the day of our Patronal Festival. It is clear after careful enquiry and consultation that the majority of worshippers at St Margaret’s are going to find it extremely difficult to access the Church on that Sunday morning. All major routes in and out of Ilkley are going to be closed from around 10am until 2.00pm on that day.
In consultation with the Churchwardens and the Standing Committee, I have therefore taken the decision to move the Parish Mass on July 14th to 4.00pm with a Parish Tea following. (Sadly, the Young Peoples’ Breakfast that day will have to be cancelled.) I hope that everyone will understand my reasons for making this radical decision and that you will be able to attend worship that day when many would clearly have not been able to in the morning. The schedule of services on July 14th is now:
- 8.00am Holy Communion
- 4.00pm St. Margaret’s Day Parish Mass followed by a Parish Tea
- 6.30pm Solemn Evensong and Benediction
There will therefore be no services on July 14th at 9.15am or 10.45am.
