Mission Statement

(Our reason and purpose for being here is ….)

To experience and know God’s transforming love more deeply and to share that love with others.

Vision Statement

(How we want to be described in five years’ time)

An outward-looking, vibrant and loving Christian family, where everyone lives out their faith in their daily life.

Strengths

  • The distinctiveness, diversity and quality of our Anglo-Catholic worship and tradition.

  • The beauty and condition of our parish Church.

  • Our excellent facilities, staff, and the condition of our Parish Hall.

  • Our diverse and talented people.

  • Our well-established evangelistic, musical, and pastoral opportunities.

  • Our well received Enquirers’, Confirmation, and Study Courses.

  • The significant improvement in financial stewardship and outward-giving.

  • Our work with children and young people through music, liturgy, nurture, and social activities.

  • Our very welcoming, friendly, and outward-looking Christian family.

Weaknesses

  • Our geographical location.

  • An over-reliance on a small group of very committed people.

  • Insufficient opportunities to grow in discipleship and foster vocations.

  • Our Facilities:

  • Our church chairs are uncomfortable and inflexible

  • Our reredos requires conservation

  • At high levels our church requires a deep clean

Opportunities

  • There is more we could do to use the many skills and abilities latent within our congregations.

  • We have boundless opportunities to teach the Christian faith.

  • Evolving technology and media offer new ways of communicating and raising our profile.

  • Taking full advantage of the opportunities presented through being a “training parish”

Threats

  • The loss of a number of our small group of very committed people

  • The changing nature of Sundays

  • Consumer mentality

  • Complacency

Priority Goals

(In the coming years we want to focus on…..)

Consolidating and Improving:

  • Our present Nurture Courses

  • Our work with 11+s

  • Financial Stewardship: maintaining our annual review and growing personal commitment

  • Our Outward Giving programme

  • Our Communications strategy

New:

  • Renew our commitment as a parish to Christian stewardship of time and talents by committing ourselves to a major programme to harness the many latent gifts and skills within the congregation.

  • Establish new ways to grow in discipleship and foster vocations to Christian leadership.

  • Choose our next priorities for the care of our Church building by a wide consultation across our Church by the Church Facilities Committee and the Parochial Church Council
